  • Llegada a Auschwitz

    Description:

    En este ejercicio los alumnos interpretarán los relatos de los deportados que sobrevivieron a Auschwitz-Birkenau. Estudiarán las fotos del Álbum Auschwitz que ilustran la llegada de los judíos húngaros en verano de 1944 y luego escucharán testimonios sobre la llegada a Birkenau. En el ejercicio analizarán e interpretarán fuentes primarias – fotos y video entrevistas – y también conocerán el Álbum Auschwitz y su contexto histórico.

  • Прибуття в Аушвіц - Фотографії та особисті історії

    Description:

    На цьому занятті учні дізнаються про особистий досвід тих, хто прибув на новий перон у таборі смерті Аушвіц-Біркенау. Ви познайомитеся з фотографіями з так званого "Альбому Аушвіцу", в якому зафіксовані прибуття чоловіків, жінок і дітей - депортованих із Закарпаття.

    Протягом цього заняття учні аналізуватимуть фотографії як першоджерела, дізнаються, яким чином відеосвідчення можна використовувати для аналізу інших першоджерел, познайомляться з "Альбомом Аушвіцу" та його історичним контекстом.

    Комплекс таборів Аушвіц було створено у 1940. Він складався з концентраційного, трудового та винищувального таборів. На цьому занятті IWitness, назва Аушвіц відноситься до основного табору; Аушвіц-Біркенау або Біркенау пов'язана з центром винищення; Аушвіц-Моновіц використовується для позначення трудового табору.

  • Érkezés Auschwitzba

    Description:

    Ebben a feladatban a diákok Auschwitz-Birkenauba deportált túlélők történeteit értelmezik. Az 1944 nyarán, magyar zsidó érkezésekor készült Auschwitz Album fotóit tanulmányozzák, majd visszaemlékezéseket hallgatnak a birkenaui érkezésről. A feladat során elsődleges forrásokat - fotókat és videóinterjúkat - elemeznek és értelmeznek, valamint megismerkednek az Auschwitz Albummal és történelmi kontextusával.

    Az auschwitzi lágerkomplexumot 1940-ben hozták létre. Koncentrációs-, megsemmisítő- és munkatáborból állt. Az IWitness feladatokban az Auschwitz megnevezés a főtáborra, az Auschwitz-Birkenau vagy Birkenau megnevezés a megsemmisítő táborra, és az Auschwitz-Monowitz vagy Monowitz megnevezés a munkatáborra utal.

  • Příjezd do Osvětimi - fotografie a osobní prožitky

    Description:

    V této aktivitě se studenti seznámí s osobními prožitky těch, kdo v roce 1944 přijížděli na novou příjezdovou rampu tábora Auschwitz-Birkenau. Prozkoumají také fotografie z Osvětimského alba, zachycujícího příjezd jednoho z takových transportů mužů, žen a dětí deportovaných z Podkarpatské Rusi.

    V průběhu této aktivity tak studenti vyhodnotí historické fotografie coby primární zdroj informací, poznají, jak může osobní svědectví pomoci při analýze dalších zdrojů informací, a seznámí se s existencí Osvětimského alba a kontextem jeho vzniku.

  • The Nazi Genocide against the Roma and Sinti People

    Description:

    During the Holocaust, in addition to the genocide perpetrated against the Jews, the Nazis also perpetrated genocide against other groups of people, including the Roma and Sinti (sometimes referred to using the problematic term "gypsy") people of Europe. This Mini Quest activity explores the experience of the Roma and Sinti people during the genocide, which occurred at a number of camps, including Auschwitz-Birkenau.

    Students will learn about the Auschwitz camp complex and engage in close reading of the testimony of one Holocaust survivor who was imprisoned there. Students will also identify content-specific words and reflect on their significance to the text, their peers and to themselves. The final product is a Word Cloud.

    Description:

    Through an analysis of testimony, students learn about the resistance efforts that took place in the Auschwitz camp complex and about the meaning of resistance in the context of the Holocaust. Students construct a poem or collage to demonstrate their learning.

  • Arrival at Auschwitz - Images and Individual Experiences

    Description:

    In this activity, students will consider the personal experiences of those who arrived on the ramp at Auschwitz-Birkenau. They will explore images from the Auschwitz Album, showing the arrival of Hungarian Jewish men, women and children in 1944, as well as listen to survivors who endured a similar process.

    By completing this activity, students will analyze photographs as a primary source, learn how testimony can be used to analyze other primary sources and will be introduced to the Auschwitz Album and its historical context.

  • Art in the Face of Death

    Description:

    This Mini Quest features visual art, poetry, and music created from the Auschwitz experience.

    In this activity, students will develop their understanding of the day-to-day life of an inmate in Auschwitz and consider the significance of art in the lives of some of those survivors. Students will also reflect on how they are personally affected by the art and stories of these survivors and construct their own works of art.

  • Growing up 'Behind the Barbed Wire' of Auschwitz

    Description:

    Students will consider what life was like for children in Auschwitz by studying the iconic image of the children standing behind the barbed wire fence following the liberation of Auschwitz and listening to testimonies of some of the children in the photo.
