This Information Quest is designed for students to learn about the experiences of Eva Kor, a Holocaust survivor who was imprisoned in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

Students will learn about the Auschwitz camp complex and engage in close reading of the testimony of one Holocaust survivor who was imprisoned there. Students will also identify content-specific words and reflect on their significance to the text, their peers and to themselves. The final product is a Word Cloud.

The Auschwitz camp complex, established in 1940, consisted of concentration, extermination, and labor camps. For clarity, in IWitness activities, Auschwitz is used to refer to the main camp; Auschwitz-Birkenau or Birkenau refers to the extermination center; and Auschwitz-Monowitz or Monowitz refers to the labor camp.
