Program Overview

Testimony-Based Education - Rwanda is a partnership between USC Shoah Foundation and Aegis Trust, designed to provide flexible resources for peace and values education in Rwandan classrooms and in other relevant programs designed to promote/teach the culture of peace in Rwanda.

This program harnesses the power of IWitness, USC Shoah Foundation’s educational website, which features 25 full life story testimonies from survivors and witnesses of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.

The educational resources produced in this program will intersect with Aegis Trust’s upcoming Ubumuntu digital platform for the Education for Sustainable Peace program in Rwanda.

Visitors to this page can access educator portals that feature localized testimony clips, education activities, and teaching resources produced by Aegis Trust and USC Shoah Foundation.

Information can also be found about intersections between Testimony-Based Education - Rwanda and Aegis Trust’s youth program.

All content on this page is available in both English and Kinyarwanda. This page will be updated as new content is produced for the program.

Youth Program / Gahunda z'urubyiruko

Testimony-Based Education - Rwanda engages Rwandan youth with testimonies from genocide survivors and rescuers, helping them discover new knowledge and skills to counter genocide and hate. The testimonies contextualize the history of the Genocide against the Tutsi, while connecting young people with personal stories of those whose lives the genocide touched.
