In this activity, students will explore sexual violence as a weapon of genocide, and how international law has changed in regard to sexual violence and genocide. Students will also reflect on the vulnerable situation women may find themselves in during genocide and on the differences between sanctioned sexual violence and opportunistic acts of sexual violence.

Teachers should be aware of the graphic content of some of the testimony included prior to having students work through this activity.
