An Uncomfortable History: The Nanjing Massacre

In this activity, students will be introduced to the experience of survivors of the Nanjing Massacre. Students will confront the brutality of the invasion and occupation of Nanjing, including the use of sexual violence, as well as the ongoing efforts to deny or diminish the events by the Japanese.

Teachers should be aware of the graphic content of some of the testimony included prior to having students work through this activity.
