In this activity, students will consider the 2003 hit song, “Where Is The Love?” by the Black Eyed Peas. Students will use the lyrics as a foundation for analyzing testimonies from Holocaust survivors. They will identify the consequences of dehumanisation, violence, and prejudice, and will explore their implications upon a society. At the end of the activity, students will write their own paragraph or stanza that addresses a current world issue, and will share their thoughts on making a difference in their communities by being upstanders.
This activity features testimonies from three Jewish Canadian Holocaust survivors: Zuzana Adam, Eva Brewster, and Larry Flynn.
