USC Shoah Foundation – the Institute for Visual History and Education is the global leader in testimony-based education. At the core of the Institute’s work is the Visual History Archive (VHA), a world-renowned collection of over 55,000 audiovisual testimonies of survivors and witnesses of genocide.
IWitness University harnesses the power of testimony to help post-secondary educators promote students’ 21st century skills in their classrooms and teach a broad array of subjects in an authentic, primary source-driven learning environment.

How to Get Started
The videos in this section provide students and educators with a variety of instructional resources. Along with introductory videos on how to use testimony in teaching and edit ethically, included are in-depth video explorations of several of the genocides and concepts referenced in Visual History Archive testimonies. The “Reflections on Respect” series includes videos of scholars from different fields who respond to testimony with thoughtful scholarly observations and personal reflections.
